GoDaddy Goes Customer–Centric With New C-Level Appointments

Zarina de Ruiter | 03/12/2015

The technology provider for SMEs has named a Chief Customer Officer and a new Chief Marketing Officer.

Barb Rechtermann steps into the newly created role of Chief Customer Officer, which will see her responsible for aligning the company’s products, services and engagement models with the strategic needs of its customers.

Rechtermann has been with GoDaddy since its inception in 1997 and has led a variety of disciplines, including engineering, customer care, communications and marketing.

Since 2006 she has been GoDaddy’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and she ranked on last year’s Forbes list of Most Influential CMOs.

On her appointment, Barb Rechterman said that she was "destined" to take on the new role and it’s a challenge she’s already running at "full throttle".

About GoStar’s customer-centric vision she added that helping customers has always been the company’s "North Star".

"We’ve always known… as we take care of our customers and prioritize their needs, our overall business thrives," she explained.

Taking over the role of CMO is Phil Bienert, who has served nearly two years as GoDaddy’s Executive Vice President of Digital Commerce.

He joined GoDaddy in April 2013 from AT&T, where he led the online marketplaces as Senior Vice President, Consumer Digital Experience.

Earlier in his career, Bienert led Customer Experience at CitiGroup and also held senior positions at Volvo and Ford Motor Company, where he drove brand and consumer product strategies.

Bienert and Rechterman both report to Blake Irving, a long-time technology product executive with Microsoft and Yahoo!, who took over as CEO of GoDaddy over two years ago.
