Dr. David Weisman assumed the role of Director of Patient Experience at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens in 2013 and was promoted to Chief Experience Officer in 2020. He is the administrator for the Pastoral Care Department and is the Language Access Coordinator. He serves as the chair of the Patient Experience Grievance Committee and the Patient and Family Advisory Council. He has fostered a culture of patient/family centered care for continuous improvement of the care experience. His past experiences include Director of the Smoking Cessation Program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, Mental Health Specialist for the Visiting Nurse Service of NY Psychiatric Mobile Crisis Team and psychotherapist for Transitional Services for NY. David Weisman earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology and his Master’s in Psychology from the New School for Social Research, New York, NY. In 2018, he received his certification in Patient Advocacy and Patient Experience Leadership. H In 2018, he was in the first cohort from NYC Health + Hospitals to achieve the designation of Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP). In 2022, he was named a Fellow in Person Centered Care by Planetree International. Some of his accomplishments include his serving as the Lead Master Trainer for the Patient Centered and Culturally Competent Communication Program, which included the training of staff to become facilitators as well as being the primary facilitator for 6 years. He is also the Lead Master Trainer for the ICARE core values training that was provided to all staff.
